arizona wedding photography ~ lysette and jeremiah

This past weekend, we had another Arizona weddings and things are really heating up and we are not just talking the weather, LOL.  We have been extremely busy meeting new prospective clients, doing engagement shootings and doing those weddings we booked a year ago.  The neat thing is that they are all in different places, so I will be taking you to quite a few locations on our second year out of the gate, so to speak, out here.  I know you have been patiently waiting to see some of them, so stay tuned as Lysette and Jeremiah were the first of the fall season.  Lysette is the eldest child of 11 children, meaning she has TEN, count ‘em, TEN siblings, whew, Al and Rebecca were busy little bees, ha ha.  In contrast, Jeremiah only has one brother, LOL.  There wedding was to take place at a church in Phoenix, Northminster Church and their reception was at the new rehabbed Madison Event Center, a very cool, hip, urban space.  It is in the downtown city area of Phoenix, among the skyscrapers and lights of the city, so that was quite interesting.  Anyway, we had arranged to meet Lysette where she was getting ready in a room in the Northminster Church.  When we arrived in the parking lot, we saw her four sisters busily taking the gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown out of the car and carrying it to the church!

We followed them in and were lead straight to Lysette who was excitedly doing last minute things as her niece was being dressed and fed a grilled cheese sandwich and her cousin’s son, Elijah, so cute, was admiring himself in the mirror!

You got to love the little ones, they make you laugh.  One of the ways that Lysette and Jeremiah decided to put their stamp of personalization on their wedding was to forgo fancy footwear, such as black tie shoes and stillettoes in favor of black and gold Converse Chuck Taylors!  Yes, you got it, the whole wedding party, kids, parents, all wore sneakers!  It was hilarious.  Lysette doctored hers all up with lace and pearls!  It was too cute…..

Rich went upstairs to where the guys were getting ready and grabbed a few shots of them getting ready as well.

A few prayers said and we were ready to get this show on the road, so to speak….

The ushers had a little bit of a time lighting the candles in the tall vases that flanked the alter, but again, it provided an tension ice breaker.

Now I say dance, as I have seen, and probably you too, these scenarios surface on YouTube, but, never had I had it in person, which tickled Lysette, as she was our first!  Well, we had our first dance off down the aisle as each couple were serenaded by a different song and yes, they actually did waltz their way down to the front of the alter!  It was hysterical and the guests really enjoyed it, for sure.

When it came time for our little flower girl, Delliah, to walk down the aisle, held by one of Lysette’s brothers, she was supposed to hold his hand and sprinkle the petals down the aisle.  But she would have no part of it, and so without skipping a beat, he scooped her up in his arms and with one arm held her, and the other, he shook the basket up and down and with that the petals would fly up and scatter over the edge of the basket and fall in neat little heaps all the way down the aisle!  It was so funny!

The ceremony was beautiful and personal with both sets of parents, doing readings and singing psalms to the couple.  Tears flowed all around and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when both Lysette and Jeremiah read their own personal vows they had written to each other.

After we took some ceremony and bridal party shots in the church, we left to go to the downtown area of Phoenix around the city to do their shots and then off to the Madison Even Center.

At first, we thought it was going to be challenging, as church was set at 4:00 p.m. and with a full ceremony, by the time it was over, it was dark outside and we still had to drive downtown.  But as we got there, we passed this beautiful area complete with lit up palm trees, restaurants, park like settings, and said viola!  We have found our photo site!  Then as we are shooting it came out that this was the exact place that Jeremiah had proposed to Lysette, so it had a special meaning as well, who knew?

Lysette’s mom, Rebecca, along with a bunch of other people had spent the morning putting finishing touches on.  They did a super job and the place looked fabulous. Lysette and Jeremiah had a lily of the valley theme going on, which was so pretty….

and Lysette and Jeremiah had a regular cake adorned with what else, calla lilies and a groom’s cake, which was an apple computer, how cute!

and let’s not forget the back of the cake (nothing was missing on this cake!)

and how cute are these two cookie pops someone made for them…………OMG, adorable!

After dinner was served, both the best man, Jeremiah’s brother, Justin and the maid of honor, Lysette’s sister, Nicole gave toasts.  Then both dads followed and some of their friends.  Again, tears flowed and flowed as they each spoke of how special both Lysette and Jeremiah are to their families and friends.  The toasts were filled with laughter and sentimental moments and we laughed as they spoke during one of the toasts of how Jeremiah, being from a small family always dreamed of having a lot of children, you know, a big family.  When he mentioned that to Lysette, she grew grim as she said I always dreamed of a small family coming from such a large one.  Hmmmmm, what would this couple do?  Would this be the thing that would lead to an impass in their relationship?  Not really, cause it just goes to show that things really are in the eye of the beholder, to Jeremiah, a large family was 5-6 children and to Lysette, a small family was 5-6 children!!!!!!!  Everyone went hysterical.  When it came time for Lysette to dance with Al, her dad, their dance was so tender, you could really see how very special she is to her dad.  He cried and held her so close.

They wiped tears from each other’s face.  It was beautiful to see.  When you thought there couldn’t be anything else to top that, Jeremiah danced with his mom, Cheryl, and again, everyone had tears flowing again!  Then it was time for everyone to go crazy out on that electric lit dance floor!  And, they really went crazy with Lysette’s sister and brother doing a dance routine in front of everyone to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.  Everyone got handed these glow sticks and some people went a tad bit crazy with them…check this little dude out~

Another really cute thing was set up on a table about how Lysette’s grandpa, upon meeting Jeremiah and getting to know him, told him that if he wanted to marry his granddaughter, he had to come up with a “payment” of sorts for Lysette’s hand in marriage.  It was made up like an old fashioned dowry, a certain variety and amount of animals.  Jeremiah, not one to pass up a challenge, and knowing that Lysette was the love of his life and WOULD be his wife, came up with quite a cute way of securing this payment.  When he arrived a few days later, he met with Lysette’s grandpa, and before him he sat a bag full of cookies in a bunch of animal shapes and different quantities, much more than the grandpa had asked for and in a bunch of different flavors!  How adorable is that, I ask you?  Then like all wonderful nights, it was time for our married couple to leave their reception and head on out to a fancy hotel before they embarck on a Mexican honeymoon to Tulum.  Their wedding party had taken care of decorating their “get away” car with flags, stickers, and messages written on all the windows.  We hope you have a great time and hope you love the photos!   (Oh yeah, and don’t forget to leave us a comment on how you like them, pretty please!)
