new york wedding photography ~ rachel and rob

Rachel and Rob were one of our couples who were originally going to be married out in Westhampton Beach but had to change their venue due to the closing of the Atlantica facilities.  They moved to the Old Field Club on the north shore of Long Island in the little town of Old Field, part of East Setauket.  It has a quaint feel to the place and sits on an inlet off the Long Island Sound.  It is colonial in decor with small paned windows, a fireplace, candle sconces galore and an understated classic ambiance, not to mention fabulous food.  Mike, our go to person, has a wonderful personality and is a take charge kind of guy, without being annoying and in your face, and always provides a laugh.  But, before we got to the Old Field Club, we met both Rachel and Rob at Danford’s Inn in Port Jefferson.  Rachel was busily getting ready when we knocked on the door and she opened it complete with her “I DO” hoodie and “Soon to be Mrs. Sales” on the back!  She looked adorable and beaming from ear to ear.

She quickly, with the help of her mom, Judy and her sister, Jessica, slipped into her gorgeous, all lace, Monique Lhuilllier gown complete with a custom rhinestone encrusted sash made by non other than Judy!   It was so pretty, she had done a fabulous job!  In her hair, she wore three rhinestone stick pins in favor of a veil for the photos.  They added such a nice touch against her brunette hair.  We took some photos on the balcony overlooking the harbor and then whisked her downstairs to meet Rob who was by now, anxiously awaiting his bride to be on the dock.  Here is his first glance at Rachel as she approached him from behind…..

and here is her “ta da” moment with Rob!  Too cute……….

We took some photos of them there on the dock and then moved to another area right behind Danford’s for some more photo ops.

I loved how this photo when captured, felt so vintagey in it’s appearance…………….

Then we all loaded up in separate cars and were off to the Old Field Club to meet up with the rest of the Bridal Party and families…  Here is Rachel and the “guys” acting crazy, LOL!

Then, just Rachel and Rob, hopped in our car and we drove a block away to the beach that the Old Field Club has access to.  It is such a cute little spot, complete with a picket fence and colorful cabanas…..

When we were through, we got back to the Old Field Club while Rich took photos of the Katubah signing, I did some detail shots of the room and ceremony.  And, before long, it was time for our couple to be hitched!  Pedestals did all the fabulous flowers both for the ceremony and inside the room.  The place looked amazing to be sure.  Lining the path down the aisle, were these tall, cylindrical, glass vases filled with water and springtime cherry blossoms, so pretty.

I loved this shot Rich captured of Rachel being escorted by her dad and mom upon seeing Rob at the end of the aisle waiting for her.  She looks so much in love and oh so happy.

In a Jewish ceremony, Circling as it is known, is a custom whereby the bride walks around or “circles” her groom three or seven times, depending on the rabbi at hand, and then the groom “circles” his bride and finally, the two join hands and walk around in a circle together.  Here you see Rachel circling Rob, and the veil which she just wore for the ceremony, would get caught up in the wind and wrap around Rob’s face, it was quite funny!

Here the Rabbi, who made the ceremony so touching, with little tidbits from each other’s lives, got a laugh out of Rachel.

Then the couple are wrapped in the Tallit, a Jewish prayer shawl, by the Rabbi while she prayed over the couple with blessings.  The Tallit represents the 613 commandments which are the pillar of the Jewish faith.  Wrapping the couple with the Tallit is a symbolic act of protecting the bride and groom by covering them with the spiritual strength of Judaism.

Once the ceremony was completed, we moved on to the cocktail hour where Mike, took great care to make sure everyone was having a great time.  I, on the other hand, went inside and did some room shots, as the ballroom was magnificent.  Three different arrangements were scattered throughout the room on the tables, some bore cherry blossoms with little votives hanging from them, others tables had gigantic floral arrangements in crystal vases and still others had three different arrangements all in the same color families of greens and pinks.

The napkins, were gathered with pearl and rhinestone napkin rings which some of the guests chose to display in crazy and odd ways, LOL….

such as these two guests who used them for a photo op whereby one wore it as a nose ring and the other man, chose to display two of them as earrings, too funny.

Then our couple arrived in the ballroom and treated their guests to a wonderful first dance, full of emotion, and dancing skill!

Our gorgeous cake, had beautiful light, medium and dark pink, sugar flowers protruding out from the layers.  It was the sweetest darn thing….we had never had a cake like that before and it tasted, as good as it looked.

The outside of our The Old Field Club at night, so pretty….

Rachel and Rob are honeymooning for three weeks in Seychelles and South Africa, lucky couple that they are.  I hope you like the photos we captured for you guys just as much as we enjoyed celebrating with you.  Please let us know what you all think, by dropping us a line on our blog, you know we live for these comments, LOL!  :-)
