mesa wedding photography ~ bethany and andrew’s wedding

This past Saturday, March 19th was Bethany and Andrew’s day.  You might remember Bethany and Andrew’s engagement session that we posted here on the blog a while back.  It was the one filled with yummy yellow colors down at Heritage Square in downtown Phoenix.  There wedding colors as well were yellow and steel gray, a beautiful combination and one of my all time favorites for weddings.  I couldn’t wait for their wedding and spoke to tons of people about it as it was taking place in a combined coffee/yoga/massage house!  Yes, you heard me right.  Inside the Bungalow is a real cool venue in downtown Mesa.  It is a vintage bungalow style house from the early 1900′s.  It is run by Betty and her daughter, Carrie, two really sweet people who can’t do enough for you.  You get a real sense that they love what they do and want your wedding to run as smoothly as possible.  The place is filled with charm, little nooks abound brimming with coffee and tea memorabilia, as well as, little cottage gardens filled with brick walls and stone statues.  We began our day in the Marriott, two blocks away where Bethany was getting ready with her parents and her girls.  While waiting in the lobby for Rich who had gone back to the car to get something, I couldn’t believe my eyes as our good friends Megan and Drew from Drew Anderson Photography were shooting a wedding in the convention center a few blocks away and they had the Marriott as their starting locale too!  It was such a shock to me to see them both walking down the hall waving madly at me!  LOL

You had to love Bethany’s steel gray ballerina flats she wore with her gorgeous gown.

Bethany’s gown was so pretty and feminine, I just loved it!

The ring bearer’s “nest” bared rings from a gum machine to protect the real ones from getting lost!

Bethany’s gorgeous bouquets and flowers came from Zuzu’s Petals.  They were so pretty, fresh and simply sweet.  They went perfectly with the dresses and the mason jars filled with flowers lining the ceremony aisle, who could ask for something more enchanting.

How cute is their chandelier, complete with china teapots and tea cups!

Everywhere you looked, there was something whimsical which just added to the cuteness of the place….like these keys embedded in the cement and the tile mosaic coffee pot in the ceremony area!

Then it was time to head up the stairs to the ultra feminine “rose” inspired bridal suite to keep away from prying eyes who wanted to catch a glimpse of our bride prior to the ceremony.

The girls, along with the bride, spied from the upstairs window at all the guests arriving for the affair!

How darn cute is little Ava, our flower girl?  Don’t you just want to hug her to bits?  Right before we took this photo she spilled her bucket of petals.  Our ring bearer, Anthony ran over to assist her in gathering them back up.  I just couldn’t take all their cuteness, you got to love the kids!

Pew markers, rod iron gate posts from which hung mason jars filled with assorted spring flowers, so pretty.  And any time someone uses daisies in their wedding flower arrangements, well….they had me at H…..E….L….L…O

Gray and yellow garden slates in the shape of a “B” for Bethany and an “A” for Andrew, helped guide guests to which side of the ceremony aisle they should sit.

A basket that held fans stating the ceremony protocol laid on a table outside the ceremony area….complete with a yellow tablecloth and …

two gray and yellow polka dotted letter hooks, one for Andrew and one for Bethany!

The little cottage garden out back where the ceremony took place.  Even the bungalow and outbuildings fit the yellow theme!

Andrew waiting for the ceremony to begin…

Our little ring bearer, Anthony carried a nest complete with one butterfly, our “fake” rings and three tiny blue robin’s eggs.

The ceremony was presided over by Officiant Jason Russ of the New Life Church in Scottsdale.  I told Jason I had never, ever had an officiant sing at a ceremony before.  It was so memorable.  He sang along with one of the bridesmaids, Pam Fletcher, a dear friend of the bride.  They both sang beautifully, I couldn’t believe what a nice touch it added to the ceremony.  He offered the couple a homily of sage advice on how to be one another’s friend and to offer guidance to one another along with remembering to keep Jesus in your lives not only in the good times, but when you hit a bump in the proverbial road.

Love the new trend now in wedding jewelery, whereby girls are wearing big statement pieces.  Such a nice look!

Bethany’s laughs came as a result of the fact that apparently Andrew’s ring is a little on the “tight” size and needed a lick or two to get it to fit!  Hahaha…you got to love those unexpected moments in a solemn ceremony!

Our rather large wedding party, but don’t they all look so purty?

Bethany getting “down” with the guys!

And, our little fairy of a bridesmaid doing her “Lords-a-Leaping” for Andrew!

Bethany is such a gorgeous girl and she did take fabulous photos….Andrew you are not so bad yourself!

Don’t you just love the cheery color of the Alice in Wonderland inspired room that we took a few staged tea drinking photos in?

The scrumptious food was prepared by the very talented Heidi’s Events & Catering.  Everything was so delicious…..and the place looked absolutely stunning when all set up.

The table cards complete with little yellow flowers!

How pretty were these gray and yellow tables with tin buckets of spring flowers set against the desert’s natural yellow flora and fauna?  As I was taking these shots, even the young guy who was setting up said “how pretty do these tables look!”

On the grounds, a vintage coffee grinder!

Then, it was time for our couple to come into their reception and spend time with their family and friends!

Our music for the evening was provided by DJE (Disc Jockey Entertainment).  They kept the wedding guests dancing way into the night.  As I couldn’t find a website for them, here is their phone number to reach them, 623-570-6952.

The lovely garden scene set to twinkling lights at night…

Our toasts were both funny and sentimental and meant the world to our bride and groom…

Our Dance with the Dad, who had Scott, our bride’s dad, laughing from the moment he took the dance floor, while his other daughters, were crying their eyes out!

Our groom’s mom, Christine, was overtaken with emotion as she hugged her son.

A few candids–Cindy, our bride’s mom being hugged by her son, Drew, who was proclaiming that he was indeed a “momma’s boy” and darn proud of it!

Our couple had a photo booth provided by AZ Photo Fun, and it sure did provide a lot of laughs as couples and groups of friends took their turn at capturing the craziness of the evening!  After the groups of people snapped some pics, the great guys at AZ Photo Fun who were set up at a table for the evening, took the second copy and affixed it to a keepsake book for Bethany and Andrew to treasure for years to come as they look back on all the fun of their wedding night.

Joy, our Matron of Honor and sister to Bethany, told me of a little story concerning our cake, LOL.  Apparently, it met with a little bad luck as it arrived at Inside the Bungalow!  l thought it was so pretty, but it apparently was supposed to be four layers had it not taken a bit of a tumble upon it’s arrival.  No biggie!  It fed everyone it needed too and it received tons of “yummy comments” and looked gorgeous.  See you just have to go with the flow, like they say, sometimes things happen, what can you do, that’s life.  No one was even aware of it’s earlier bad luck :)

And, our last photo of the evening….we had to laugh as Andrew is on the shy side.  Every time we would come up with something crazy for him to do, he would just look at us with this look. So I couldn’t resist in ribbing him about it.  Here Bethany is laughing “with” me, hahaha, as I could see she was in agreement.  Here’s to the craziness of wedding photos, Andrew.  I hope you and Bethany love them as much as we loved taking them.  Enjoy Hawaii, you guys deserve it.  We had a ball on your engagement shoot as well as, your wedding and we wish you tons of years of complete happiness.  When you get back, please drop us a line here under “comments” and tell us what you think….and please guests leave a line for our happy couple, I am sure you will make their day!
